What is credit repair? Is it legal?

Credit repair is a legal process (also known as the dispute process), that includes mailing letters to the 3 major credit bureaus and leveraging consumer credit law to dispute negative items on your credit reports in order to get them deleted. Negative items include collections, late payments, student loans, unpaid debt, charge offs, hard inquiries, repossessions, evictions, foreclosures, bankruptcies, etc. Getting bad credit history removed cleans your credit file by improving your payment history and increasing credit scores.

 

As per the Fair Credit Reporting Act of 1970, every U.S. consumer has the right to challenge the information inside their credit reports. If the credit bureaus are unable to verify the disputed item within 30 days, they are required to delete it. The credit repair methods that we use and teach are 100% legal (and they work).

How long will it take to see results?

The Girly & Rich Accelerator is a 12-month credit repair program designed to help you achieve lasting results. While every client’s situation is different, most people should plan for a full year to see the best outcomes. Credit item deletions typically occur anywhere between 3–12 months after enrollment as disputes are processed and updates are reported by the credit bureaus.​

While some people do see results within 90 days, it’s also completely normal if you don’t see results within the first 6 months — in some cases, deletions may not happen until month 8, 9, 10+. This is because most items require many rounds of disputes, each taking 45 days to process, and it's not always possible to dispute everything at once.

How quickly you’ll see results depends on the number and type of negative items on your reports, as well as how each bureau responds to disputes. In general, we find that the majority of negative items are usually removed anywhere between months 3–12 of consistent processing. Patience is key!
